Tritt a Hit

This somehow passed me by. The social-networking site Crimespace, which recently celebrated its first birthday, has also announced the winners of its first fiction-writing contest. You’ll remember that the challenge was to compose an Australia-themed criminal tale of up to 2,500 words in length. “How you include [the theme] is up to you,” editor Daniel Hatadi explained. “Your story could be set in Australia, have an Australian character in it, or simply mention Australia somewhere in the story. Hell, even including an Aussie cultural icon such as Vegemite will do.”

In a follow-up post this week, Hatadi revealed the winners:
The third prize of a CrimeSpace T-shirt or store item goes to:

DADDY’S GIRL by Tony Black

Second prize of a $25 Amazon voucher and CrimeSpace T-shirt or store item goes to:

THE MOLLOY BROTHERS GIVE THEIR ALL by Sophie Littlefield

And the winning prize of a $50 Amazon voucher, CrimeSpace T-shirt or store item, and a pack of three signed crime fiction books by Australian authors (FRANTIC by Katherine Howell, CHERRY PIE by Leigh Redhead, BLACK TIDE by Peter Temple) in a CrimeSpace tote bag goes to:

SEEING RED by Jackie Tritt
You’ll find a full explanation of the results, a list of honorable mentions, and mini-profiles of this year’s judges here.
