Take It Slovak and Easy

Earlier this week, The Barnes & Noble Review published my critique of Megan Abbott’s new Bury Me Deep. Now, that same online pub has posted my assessment of Michael Genelin’s Dark Dreams.

As I say in the latter piece, Genelin’s first book about Slovakian police detective Jana Matinova, Siren of the Waters, was one of the best crime novels of 2008. This sequel, in what could become the most interesting series set in Eastern Europe since Olen Steinhauer’s Romanian novels, is even better.
