A couple of days ago, I took up a challenge from Brian Lindenmuth to name the authors whose work I read for the first time in 2008. It turned out to be an enjoyable project, so I encouraged half a dozen of my fellow bloggers to follow my lead. Most of them have now posted their own lists of “discoveries.” Scott D. Parker, Elizabeth Foxwell, Vince Keenan, and Ben Boulden all pretty much stuck within the lines of the assignment, while Ali Karim set a slightly divergent course, listing some of his favorite “breakout novels.”
I see, though, that others have run with this meme too, after being tagged by various bloggers. Some of the lists I’ve spotted already have been submitted by Peter Rozovsky, Bill Crider, Patti Abbott, Uriah Robinson (aka Norman Price), Rhian Davies (aka CrimeFicReader), and James Reasoner.
Thanks to Brian for kicking off this chain of responses.
UPDATE: Petrona and Kerrie Smith add their own contributions to the “authors new to me” meme.

I've decided I'll do this as well. I'll let you know when mine are up.
