And Yet More Reasons to Go on Living

It’s been a regrettably long while since we last checked in on Dave Robeson’s Bloodstained Bookshelf catalogue of coming crime fiction. So it’s understandable that we should be surprised--and downright pleased--by many of the works we now understand are being readied for sale in the States. Those include new works by Anna Blundy (Vodka Neat, May), Kjell Eriksson (The Demon of Dakar, May), Loren D. Estleman (Frames, May--the first novel-length outing for his film detective, Valentino), Richard E. Crabbe (Hell’s Gate, June), Les Roberts (King of the Holly Hop, June--the return of private eye Milan Jacovich!), Robert Crais (Chasing Darkness, July), Tana French (The Likeness, July), Luiz Alfredo Garcia-Roza (Blackout, August), Stuart M. Kaminsky (People Who Walk in Darkness, August--the comeback of Moscow policeman Porfiry Rostnikov!), Andrea Camilleri (August Heat, September), Michael Connelly (The Brass Verdict, October), and Mickey Spillane and Max Collins (The Goliath Bone, October--the widely anticipated return of private eye Mike Hammer!).

One title not included on Robeson’s list, perhaps because it’s not going to be filed under “crime fiction,” is Dennis Lehane’s ambitious standalone historical novel, The Given Day, based around the 1919 Boston police strike. It’s due out in late September.

Check out all the possibilities here.
