Watch Him Like a Hawke

I met Canadian novelist Rick Mofina over dinner at last winter’s Left Coast Crime convention in Seattle, and have been thinking ever since that I ought to sample his work. He’s one of those people who seems to have fallen through the cracks here at Rap Sheet Central. But after reading, at the Web site My Book, the Movie, Mofina’s casting choices for his new novel, A Perfect Grave, it may be time to eliminate him from my list of never-read authors. I mean, if his series protagonist, Seattle crime reporter Jason Wade, is really best represented by the abundantly talented actor Ethan Hawke, then he sounds like somebody I’d like to get to know.
