Ho-hum. Apparently as a tie-in to this month’s start of the fall 2007 television season, Time magazine TV critic James Poniewozik has produced a list of what he thinks are the “100 Best Shows of All-Time.” While the roster includes Hill Street Blues, Homicide: Life on the Street, Moonlighting, Prime Suspect, Wiseguy, The Singing Detective, Dragnet, and The Wire (as well as such key non-crime-fiction fare as Deadwood, The West Wing, and M*A*S*H), it leaves off both Columbo and The Rockford Files, thereby leaving its compiler suspect in the extreme. To make room, Poniewozik could have nixed SpongeBob Square Pants and one of the two versions of The Office, at the least.
The complete list is here, with links to write-ups about each show.
