My head’s still spinning from threats that a Charlie’s Angels TV reunion is in the offing. Now comes word that Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis have been discussing the possibility of a big-screen adaptation of the 1985-1989 series Moonlighting.
According to Starpulse.com, “The actress and Willis have been discussing a return to their characters, Madelyn ‘Maddie’ Hayes and detective David Addison Jr. respectively, with the program’s creator Glenn Carron [sic], and work on a new script is already underway.” Willis is reportedly “sick” of making action films (though he’s signed on to make a Die Hard IV, due out next summer) and thinks audiences are hungry for a revival of his old comedy-mystery series. “No one’s writing those kind of comedy roles any more,” Willis has said. “It’s so hard to invent a character like David Addison. When I read the Moonlighting script, I said, ‘I know this guy. I know how this guy thinks.’”
But c’mon, folks, do we really care all that much what happened to Maddie and David after they finally got together (a consummation that many say led to the series’ cancellation), and then broke apart again, following Maddie’s spontaneous decision to marry some guy she met on a train? Are the pair supposed to revive the old Blue Moon Detective Agency and try to reignite the sexual tension that drove the series originally? It’s two decades later. Willis is now 51, and Shepherd is 56. Don’t some shows deserve to be remembered nostalgically, without reunions having to be shot? Can’t Hollywood give us new stories, instead of re-treading old ones?

Sheesh,
I think this revival craze is really silly - as for Moonlighting 2006, perhaps as it's Willis it could subtitled 'Die Bored'
