Fathers of Fantasy
The Economist magazine is a bit tardy in eulogizing detective novelist Mickey Spillane. But better late than never, eh? And the unidentified author of its obit does deliver a unique twist on the story, pairing Spillane’s death on July 17 with that of another “supplier of fantasies to American males,” longtime Hooters restaurant chain owner Robert H. Brooks, who passed away on July 16. Read the piece here.
