Rippin’ Right Along

There’s a ripe load of interesting stuff in Mike Ripley’s September “Getting Away With Murder” column for Shots. The puckish Mr. R devotes a good chuck of his space to eulogizing his recently deceased friend, Rodney “R.D.” Wingfield, but proceeds from there to note that the equally late John Gardner’s long-awaited third Professor Moriarty novel, The Redemption of Moriarty, will finally be released in 2008--three decades after books one and two reached stores. He goes on to remark upon the sudden ubiquity of poisoning plots and to remind us that this is the “centenary year of the birth of Leslie Bowyer-Yin, better known as Leslie Charteris, the creator of The Saint.” Ripley’s full column can be savored here.
