Plenteous Peepers

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over these last three weeks spent posting tributes to fictional private detectives in Killer Covers, it’s that I cannot keep two blogs cruising along simultaneously at a lively clip. While I have produced two dozen posts in Killer Covers during this period, my work on The Rap Sheet has slowed to a crawl.

Nonetheless, I am pleased with my efforts on that sister site. The “Slice of P.I.” series, as I could not resist calling it, has offered readers book fronts from works by Max Allan Collins, George Harmon Coxe, G.G. Fickling, Lawrence Block, Agatha Christie, Bill S. Ballinger, Stephen Greenleaf, Sara Paretsky, and numerous others. At the same time, it’s showcased artists—familiar and not—ranging from Joe DeVito, David Plourde, and Gerald Powell to Mara McAfee, Robert K. Abbett, James Meese, and Robert McGinnis.

But today I’ll close out that series with a quirky, mostly forgotten novel by a quirky, definitely not forgotten author. While anticipating said post’s arrival, check out previous “Slice of P.I.” entries here.
