Debriefing Petievich

As Rap Sheet correspondent Ali Karim related in his recent recap of Bouchercon 2025, one of the high points of his time in New Orleans was meeting U.S. Secret Service agent-turned-writer Gerald Petievich, author of To Live and Die in L.A. (1983) and this year’s 13 Hillcrest Drive. Ali subsequently took the opportunity to interview Petievich on everything from his intelligence background and favored novels among his oeuvre to the 1985 film adaptation of To Live and the “close to two-decade gap” between the release of his ninth novel, The Sentinel, and that of 13 Hillcrest Drive. Their fine full exchange is found here.
