All Eyes Turn to the Crescent City

Bouchercon 2025 (“Blood on the Bayou: Case Closed”) begins today in New Orleans, Lousiana. My British friends Ali Karim and Mike Stotter, of Shots, have been touring the city for a few days already; I’ll join them there tomorrow, with the intention not only of attending panel discussions (I am due to participate in one on Friday afternoon), but also eating my share of grits, beignets, and hush puppies—culinary wonders that are in pitifully short supply here in Seattle.

If you can’t make it yourself, but would like to know what’s on tap there, check out this schedule of events. The rundown of attendees is available here. In addition to Ali and Mike, I’m looking forward to visiting again with other old friends, and perhaps encountering authors I have not previously met, including Nicholas Meyer (Sherlock Holmes and the Real Thing), C.B. Bernard (Ordinary Bear), S.A. Cosby (King of Ashes), and Mariah Fredericks (The Girl in the Green Dress).

While I’m away, The Rap Sheet will be mostly quiet, though I have one thing set to publish on Thursday. I’ll try to compose a report on my convention-going—with photographs—after I return.

Have a great time! I'll be missing it--and you--this year!
