Almost 170 and Still Going Strong

Unfortunately, January 6 has now become notorious as the date on which, in 2021, followers of defeated Republican president Donald J. Trump launched a violent attack against the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Better that the date should be celebrated as the anniversary of Sherlock Holmes’ birth, in 1854—169 years ago.

The good folks behind the podcast I Hear of Sherlock Everywhere issued a reminder of the latter occasion earlier today, and in this post, The Rap Sheet elaborated further on the reasoning that has led to January 6 being identified as Holmes’ natal day.
