Organizers of the 27th Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (April 23-24) have announced the finalists, in 11 categories, for the 2022 Times Book Prizes. Here are the five Mystery/Thriller contenders:
• The Turnout, by Megan Abbott (Putnam)
• The Dark Hours, by Michael Connelly (Little, Brown)
• Razorblade Tears, by S.A. Cosby (Flatiron)
• The Collective, by Alison Gaylin (Morrow)
• Velvet Was the Night, by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (Del Rey)
This year will bring L.A.’s first in-person Festival of Books since the COVID-19 pandemic struck back in 2020. Book prize winners are expected to be declared on Friday, April 22.
