More Opinions from More Places

We now interrupt our own rollout of “favorite crime fiction of 2021” lists to bring you still more choices from other sources.

CrimeReads was evidently not happy with simply posting its list last week of what it says are “The Best Crime Novels of 2021.” Ever since, it has been segmenting off subcategories of this genre to champion. Thus we have been treated to Molly Odintz’s choices of “The Best Historical Crime Fiction of 2021” and the staff’s round-up of “The Best Espionage Novels of 2021,” with presumably more to come.

Critic-blogger Kristopher Zgorski is up with his “Top Reads of 2021” (including S.A. Cosby’s Razorblade Tears, Val McDermid’s 1979, and Óskar Guðmundsson’s The Commandments). Meanwhile, Literary Hub’s rundown of “The Best Reviewed Mystery and Crime Books of 2021” features Colson Whitehead’s Harlem Shuffle, John le Carré’s Silverview, Zakiya Dalila Harris’ The Other Black Girl, and more.

Finally, Jeff Popple, an Australian contributor to Deadly Pleasures Mystery Magazine, offers lists of his “Favourite Books of 2021” and what he asserts are “The Best Debut Novels of 2021.”
