David Bianculli’s TV Worth Watching notes it was on this day, back in 1989, that ABC-TV “presented the two-hour movie, Peter Gunn, revisiting the 1958-1961 private-eye series that starred Craig Stevens in the title role. ABC’s remake featured Rich Man, Poor Man and The Jericho Mile star Peter Strauss, and was written and directed by the show’s original creator, Blake Edwards, with the hope of launching a Perry Mason-style series of telefilms.
