Back to the New West

Just a brief programming note: Tonight will bring the Season Two premiere of Longmire, the A&E-TV series inspired by Craig Johnson’s series of novels featuring Walt Longmire, the sheriff of fictional Absaroka County, Wyoming. Here’s a synopsis of tonight’s episode, titled “Unquiet Mind”:
After a prison transfer goes awry, Walt urgently pursues a serial killer and his fellow escapees who have taken hostages up a mountain. Facing an impending storm with very limited resources, Walt's mettle is put to the test. Hypothermic hallucinations force him to face his past.
Longmire stars Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, and Lou Diamond Phillips. The action begins this evening at 10 p.m. on A&E. You can watch a preview of “Unquiet Mind” here.

I enjoyed the first series of Longmire even though in a community of thst size, he would have been bound to know that his daughter was in a relationship with the deputy who was running for sheriff against him. However, the show may have "jumped the shark" with last night's episode. I'll give it one more chance next week.

Hey, Kent:

In what way do you think last night's episode "jumped the shark"? Because Sheriff Longmire went off on his own into the mountains to find a pack of killers, or maybe because he was seeing the spirits of people from his life as he took that trek? Please elucidate.

Cheers,
Jeff

I haven't seen this one yet (it's on the DVR) but what I'm reading sounds like a plotline taken from the Longmire book Hell is Empty, which was based on Dante's Inferno. No sharks jumped there.
