The organization Sisters in Crime Australia has announced its shortlist for the 2012 Davitt Awards, named in honor of Ellen Davitt (1812-1879), the first known Australian mystery novelist. Contenders in the adult fiction category are:
• A Decline in Prophets, by Sulari Gentill
• Beyond Fear, by Jaye Ford
• Death and the Spanish Lady, by Catherine Morwood
• Love, Honour & O’Brien, by Jennifer Rowe
• The Courier’s New Bicycle, by Kim Westwood
• Shattered Sky, by Helene Young
Winners are supposed to be announced on September 1. The longlist of this year’s Davitt Award nominees can be studied here.
