My, how times flies when you’re buried in work. It’s hard to believe that The Rap Sheet’s last book-giveaway contest was held way back in May--and nothing since then. You’ve probably all wondered what became of our storied generosity with new and forthcoming novels. Well, fear not, folks, it’s come time to submit your contact information for another chance at picking up some new and special works.

As I noted earlier this week, respected paperback publisher Hard Case Crime is returning in September to the business of issuing high-quality hard-boiled crime fiction, following an unfortunate yearlong hiatus. Over the next couple of months, it will roll out four brand-new novels by familiar authors: Lawrence Block’s Getting Off, Max Allan Collins’ Quarry’s Ex, Christa Faust’s Choke Hold, and The Consummata, by Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins.

To celebrate this comeback, Hard Case editor Charles Ardai is making available to Rap Sheet readers a single copy of each of those four books. For a chance to win one, simply e-mail your name and snail-mail address to jpwrites@wordcuts.org. Oh, and please write “Hard Case Crime Contest” in the subject line. Contest entries will be accepted between now and midnight on Monday, September 19. Winners will be selected at random and their names announced on this page the next day.
