I want to take a moment this morning to wish screenwriter and TV producer William Theodore Link the happiest of 77th birthdays. The co-creator (with his longtime writing partner, Richard Levinson) of such winning series as Columbo, Mannix, and Ellery Queen, and the author of this year’s delightful short-story work, The Columbo Collection, Link was born on this date in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, back in 1933.
I had the opportunity to speak with Link earlier this year, and posted the results of our length exchange in The Rap Sheet.

i'd like to wish Mr. Link a Happy Birthday. As one of the creators of the best television detective of all time as well as a television series that remains as entertaining today as it was 50 years ago, he is truly a mystery and television legend.
Congrats to Mr. Link. My son, who loves the Columbo movies from TV, picked up the short story collection and was delighted with it. Thanks.
Happy birthday to Mr. Link. I enjoyed hearing him speak at this year's Bouchercon in San Francisco, and am discovering the pleasures of Ellery Queen on the new DVD release.
