Both The Baltimore Sun and the Los Angeles Times are reporting that New York-born actress Rooney Mara has been signed to play social misfit heroine Lisbeth Salander in the English-language film adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s best-selling first novel, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. That same role in the 2009 subtitled Swedish film version belonged--in more ways than one--to Noomi Rapace.
James Bond portrayer Daniel Craig has already been signed to appear in the picture as journalist Mikael Blomkvist.

Liked the Swedish version of TGWTDT although the violent scenes were hard to take.
Had to fast-forward through some of it and take breaks and look away from the screen. And I did read the three books and liked them.
I agree that Noomi Rapace is fantastic; she is Lizbeth Salander up on that screen. Have no idea how anyone could possibly play that role as well as she does.
