Overlapping crime series are likely to force TV viewers into making some difficult choices this evening.
Beginning at 9 p.m. ET/PT, PBS-TV’s Masterpiece Mystery! series will debut the first of three new 90-minute episodes of Agatha Christie’s Poirot, starring David Suchet. Tonight’s installment is based on Christie’s famous 1934 novel, Murder on the Orient Express. Despite my having already watched two film adaptations of this same book, previews of tonight’s version make me want to see the story all over again.
Meanwhile, A&E’s The Glades, a one-hour drama about a Chicago detective (Matt Passmore) who moves to South Florida and what he hopes will be a less stressful job with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, is set to kick off tonight at 10 p.m. My Year in Crime offers a video preview of the show, which makes it look stylish, pleasantly eccentric, and rather rich in character.

A&E will repeat The Glades at 10:53 pm. For some reason, the first episode is only 53 minutes long.
You can watch MOTOE on the PBS website starting tomorrow. Hook it up to that big screen!
That's why my DVR is still getting a workout even though it's summer. We thought the premiere of "The Bridge" was good too - not the usual cop drama.
