I like the statement used this morning by The Writer’s Almanac to introduce this subject: “It was on this day 100 years ago that the man who’s often quoted as saying ‘The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated’ did, in fact, really die.”
To commemorate this centennial, I wrote a post for my non-crime fiction blog, Limbo, about the deceased--writer, humorist, and social commentator Mark Twain (né Samuel Clemens)--that includes rare film footage of the author at his Redding, Connecticut, estate in 1909.
