If you haven’t already cast your ballot in the concluding round of blogger Jen Forbus’ “World’s Favorite Detective” competition, you’d better get cracking. The voting ends tomorrow!
Out of an original roster of 64 nominees, there are only two remaining: Raymond Chandler’s iconic private eye, Philip Marlowe, and Michael Connelly’s LAPD detective, Harry Bosch. Go here to vote for your favorite.
Of course, this is a completely subjective poll. No matter who wins, there will be complaints about the results. At this stage, my vote goes to Mr. Marlowe. But there have already been fictional protagonists eliminated from the race who I think rank among the best that ever were, or ever will be. And no matter who claims victory in this contest, it won’t affect my reading habits one iota.

Marlowe gets my vote, too.
