As the A&E TV network moves from broadcasting documentaries and re-running classic dramas (such as Columbo and Ellery Queen) into creating original series, it looks to expand our crime-fiction viewing opportunities this coming summer--but not too much.
TV Squad reports that the network is looking seriously at a series called Sugarloaf, “about a Chicago cop who gets accused of something he didn’t do so he decides to move to a small Florida town and become an officer there.” However, A&E also turned thumbs down on plans to launch The Quickening, “about a homicide detective who is bipolar.” (Shades of Monk?)
The Hollywood Reporter offers a bit more info on this subject.
