It’s hard to express how disappointed we are that things didn’t work out at The Mystery Company, and how much we’ll miss the many friends we’ve made here in Indiana. We’ve given this everything we could and we’ve had a great run. In the end, though, it just wasn’t enough.Huang is already moving on to “new challenges in a new job out of state. I start on February 15 at Kenyon College, in Gambier, Ohio, where I’ll be general manager of the college’s bookstore.”
I’ve never been to The Mystery Company, but many favorable things have been said about that establishment. Like any independent bookseller, it’s sad to see it disappear.

Jim has been such a great member of the mystery community, such a pillar of the bookselling world, such a great interpreter of the pressures facing the industry. And a huge part of the biggest Bouchercon ever. His store and his wonderful staff will be missed.
Kenyon already hired away my favorite Dean of Students. Arrgghh. (Seriously, I hope thy know how lucky they are.)
I agree that the closure of another independent is sad news, indeed. But, Jim will find a good home in the Kenyon Bookstore. It is a fantastic place.
