40 Reasons to Go on Living

It’s been a while--probably too long--since I last posted anything about upcoming crime-fiction releases. But with this summer now well upon us, and people looking both for books they can take with them on vacation and works they can look forward to seeing published in the fall, I thought I’d check in again with a couple of Web sites that provide advance notice of crime-fiction releases.

As far as U.S. books go, The Bloodstained Bookshelf is a good site to visit if you want to begin anticipating future reads. Among the crime novels that compiler Ashley McConnell says will reach bookstores in the coming months are The Dead of Winter, by Rennie Airth (July); Breaking Faith, by Anna Blundy (July); The Crack in the Lens, by Steve Hockensmith (July); Hemingway Delights, by Michael Atkinson (August); 206 Bones, by Kathy Reichs (August); Even Money, by Dick and Felix Francis (August); Blood Atonement, by Dan Waddell (August); Breathing Water, by Timothy Hallinan (August); Stop This Man! by Peter Rabe (August); Losers Live Longer, by Russell Atwood (September); A Quiet Belief in Angels, by R.J. Ellory (September); Jugglers at the Border, by Robert Fate (September); Heaven’s Keep, by William Kent Krueger (September); The Brutal Telling, by Louise Penny (September); In the Guise of Mercy, by Wendy Hornsby (September); 9 Dragons, by Michael Connelly (October); Honey in His Mouth, by Lester Dent (October); The Professional, by Robert B. Parker (October); Winter of Secrets, by Vicki Delany (November); The Big Wake-up, by Mark Coggins (November); and Ticket to Ride, by Ed Gorman (November).

For coming British crime fiction, visit the Future Releases section of Karen Meek’s Euro Crime site. Her list of forthcoming releases includes The Darkest Room, by Johan Theorin (July); An Empty Death, by Laura Wilson (July); Blood Line, by Mark Billingham; Cut Out, by Patrick Lennon (August); Occupied City, by David Peace (August); The Valkyrie Song, by Craig Russell (August); Requiem for a Dummy, by David Stuart Davies (September); Death Angels, by Åke Edwardson (September); If the Dead Rise Not, by Philip Kerr (September); Hypothermia, by Arnaldur Indridason (September); Skeleton Hill, by Peter Lovesey (September); A Dead Man in Naples, by Michael Pearce (September); Cold to the Touch, by Frances Fyfield (October); She Lover of Death, by Boris Akunin (October); The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest, by Stieg Larsson (October); The Complaints, by Ian Rankin (October); The Lost Sister, by Russel D. McLean (October); Hotbed, by Bill James (November); and The Fleet Street Murders, by Charles Finch (November).

Drat! I’d better start reading the books already in my pile, if I am to be ready for this forthcoming load of reading matter.

Sorry, Bob. I didn't mention your latest Rat Pack Mystery, because it did not appear on the Bloodstained Bookshelf's list. I'm glad you noted the pending publication of that novel here in the Comments section.

To get YOU'RE NOBODY ... listed on The Bloodstained Bookshelf, it looks as if you have to send an e-mail note to compiler Ashley McConnell. Her e-mail address is listed as Ashley@mirlacca.com

I hope that helps.

Cheers,
Jeff
