The Wolfe Pack has announced its finalists for the 2009 Nero Award.
Presented annually for literary excellence, the award will be given out during the Black Orchid Banquet, to be held on the first Saturday of December in New York city.
The award commemorates Nero Wolfe, the character who made his debut in 1934’s Fer-de-Lance and who would go on to feature in more than 70 works of fiction. Wolfe was created by author Rex Stout, who was named as a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America in 1959. The Wolfe Pack was founded in 1978 and is dedicated to celebrating the very best of Nero Wolfe, not only his fiction but also his notorious likes and dislikes.
This year’s Nero Award finalists are:
• The Dark Tide, by Andrew Gross (HarperCollins)
• The Tenth Case, by Joseph Teller (Mira)
• The Fault Tree, by Louise Ure (Minotaur Books)
