Help for the Procrastinators

Just a couple of reminders for those of us prone to putting off decisions until it’s too late.

Anybody who attended the 2008 Bouchercon in Baltimore should have received an official ballot soliciting nominations for books, stories, and people you’d like to see contend for the 2009 Anthony Awards. Winners in eight categories will be announced during this year’s Bouchercon gathering in Indianapolis, Indiana. Those ballots must be mailed back by Thursday, April 30.

And if you have not yet registered your choices for the 2009 Spinetingler Awards, now’s the time to get on the stick. Cast your votes here, and be sure to hit the “Submit” button in every category; otherwise, all of your votes will not be counted. Voting for the Spinetingler Awards will remain open until Saturday, April 25, 2009, with winners to be announced on the 30th.

It looks like they've changed the nominating process for this year. Only those who have already registered for 2009 can nominate books for this year's award. From the website:

The window for Baltimore and Indianapolis Bouchercon attendees to nominate titles for Anthony Award consideration runs between February 28, 2009 and April 30, 2009. Five equally-weighted titles can be nominated in each category.

The first set of nomination ballots will be sent out shortly after February 28th. A supplemental ballot will be mailed in mid-April to catch attendees who registered after February 28th. All nomination ballots must be returned by April 30, 2009. Register now so you don’t miss out.
