Why Wait?

Have you taken a crack yet at our latest poll question: Which is Raymond Chandler’s best novel? With the 50th anniversary of the author’s death coming up on Thursday of this week, March 26, we thought it might be fun to hear from Rap Sheet readers on this ever-pressing question.

Near the top of the right-hand column on this page, you’ll find a silver-tinted box in which you can choose your favorite among Chandler’s seven original novels. Feel free to vote for more than one title, but you can only answer this poll once a day.

This poll will remain open through Wednesday, after which we’ll announce the results.

I am going to vote, but any on RC's books could be best except for Playback, which just plain wasn't good.

I see three readers have voted for Playback as their favorite Chandler novel. Since most think it is his poorest novel I would be very interested in any comments defending Playback as the best.
