The Independent Mystery Booksellers Associations (IMBA) has announced its nominees for the 2009 Dilys Award, named in honor of Dilys Winn, the founder of New York City’s now-deceased Murder Ink bookstore and author of the classic reference work, Murder Ink: The Mystery Reader’s Companion. The Dilys Award honors the book that IMBA members thought was the “most fun to sell” during the previous year. The 2009 contenders are:
• Trigger City, by Sean Chercover (Morrow)
• The Victoria Vanishes, by Christopher Fowler (Bantam)
• Silent in the Sanctuary, by Deanna Raybourn (MIRA)
• Child 44, by Tom Rob Smith (Grand Central)
• The Dawn Patrol, by Don Winslow (Knopf)
A winner will be announced during this year’s Left Coast Crime convention, to be held in Hawaii from March 7 to 12.
