Patti Abbott has the spirit of a great organizer. Not only did she initiate the blogosphere’s whole Friday “forgotten books” campaign (to which The Rap Sheet has contributed in its own modest way), but today she’s engineered a flash-fiction contest.
The challenge, as she explains, was “to create a story using the line, ‘I have been faithful to you, Cynara, in my fashion’ or ‘Call no woman respectable until she’s dead.’ Both lines come from a 1932 Kay Francis movie called Cynara.”
Abbott posts a brief yarn of her own in response, appropriately titled “Cynara,” at her personal Web site. Also to be found there are two additional flash-fiction stories and a rundown of the assorted other bloggers who are participating in this flash-fiction challenge.
Great fun for a Monday morning.
