Crimespree Cinema blogger Jeremy Lynch has word of a couple of interesting deals in the works. It seems that David Simon, the man behind NBC’s late, lamented Homicide: Life on the Street, and Tony Fontana, who gave us HBO’s Oz, are teaming up to create an HBO miniseries based on James L. Swanson’s riveting 2006 non-fiction book, Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer.
And my good friend Charlie Smyth is really going to appreciate this news: Screenwriter Ehren Kruger is finally adapting Boston Teran’s gritty 1999 novel, God Is a Bullet, for the silver screen. Kruger previously wrote Reindeer Games (2000) and Blood and Chocolate (2007). Lynch has more on this project here.
