John McCain, Elitist

This is appalling--a U.S. presidential candidate who is so rich and out of touch, that he can’t even remember how many homes he owns, when other Americans are having trouble holding onto just one home! Author J.D. “Dusty” Rhoades blogs about the basic story here. Click here for Barack Obama’s response to McCain’s memory lapse. Oh, and if you’d like to see one of those houses McCain can’t remember, click here. The rest of them are located on this map.

No question, this is way worse than George H.W. Bush not knowing the cost of common grocery store items back in 1992. At least eggs and milk don’t cost millions of dollars.

UPDATE: And how does the McCain camp respond to this criticism? Aide Brian Rogers acknowledged that his boss had “some investment properties and stuff,” but he went on to say: “This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years--in prison.” Sounds like McCain is adapting to his own uses what Senator Joe Biden called Rudy Giuliani’s vote-for-me shorthand: “subject, verb, 9/11.” Only with McCain, it’s “subject, verb, POW.” As if that is reason enough to vote for somebody.
