He’ll Go Where Hugo

Well, author Michael Chabon’s exceptional 2007 novel, The Yiddish Policemen’s Union, may not have won either an Edgar Award or the Hammett Award. But it has just picked up a Hugo Award for Best Novel of the Year. In case you don’t know, the Hugos are given out annually for the best science fiction and fantasy works.

Holy crossover, Batman!

As I mentioned on my blog, The Yiddish Policeman's Union was a good book. However, the winning novelette, Ted Chaing's "The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate," I enjoyed much, much better. One of the best time travel stories out there. You can find the story online (via the Hugos link above) as well as a great audio version at Starship Sofa.
