Back to the “Cemetery”

Last month, I was thrilled to read in Karen Meek’s Euro Crime blog that Spanish novelist Carlos Ruiz Zafón has a new adult book due out in April called El Juego del Angel, the second in a foursome of interlinking works, this one also featuring his fictional “Cemetery of Forgotten Books.” I loved Zafón’s previous and magical mystery, The Shadow of the Wind, and have been looking forward to reading more of his fiction. Unfortunately, as Meek noted at the time, there were no plans for an English translation, and my Spanish isn’t nearly as good as it used to be.

Today, though, brings good news on this front. Euro Crime follows up with this item from Publisher’s Lunch:
Internationally bestselling author Carlos Ruiz Zafón’s El Juego del Angel (The Angel’s Game), a prequel to The Shadow of the Wind set in 1920s Barcelona, combining a love story, a mystery, a fantasy and an exploration of literature, moving to Stephen Rubin at Doubleday, with Bill Thomas editing, for publication in summer 2009.
Excellent news, indeed.

Agreed, it is amazing what you can discover at Euro Crime -- and not only about Daniel Craig either;-)
