It’s Palms Sunday, Baby!

Actually, it’s Palm Sunday--which, being in no way religious, I had to look up in order to discover is a Christian feast day. But Palms Sunday refers to today being the formal release date of Seth Harwood’s first novel, Jack Wakes Up, in book form. As I explained last week, the trailblazing Harwood made Jack Wakes Up available originally as a podcast, but subsequently convinced independent publisher Breakneck Books to produce it as a paperback.

Furthering his unusual methods of promoting this new novel, Harwood is trying to “make a run at the Amazon charts” by encouraging people to order Jack Wakes Up from the oversize online retailer today. Here’s the Amazon page devoted to Harwood’s novel, if you’re interested in playing along. Want to read some of the book before buying? You will find the complete text in PDF format here.

Should Harwood’s chance-taking promotions approach work, we might be seeing more books published originally online, only to later be given a second life in print.

Thanks, J.
Oh, did you say "second life"? Actually, I'll be doing an online reading and Q&A in Second Life tomorrow (complete with a digital body in a tuxedo) on Meet the Author. It "airs" at 2PM PST on the Second Life Cable Network. Have no idea what any of that means? Good, then you're a lot like me. Basically I think it just means you can go to slcn.tv at 2PM tomorrow (PST) and watch this thing like it's on TV on your computer. Sounds weird, but worth trying, right? (Hope so.)

Oh, if you're outside the US, take a look here to see how you can get a signed copy right away.
