I’m pretty sure I had never heard of the Galaxy British Book Awards (or “Nibbies”) before last year, and yet here I am announcing the latest batch of nominees for its annual Crime Thriller of the Year commendation. The 2008 contenders are:
• The Tin Roof Blowdown, by James Lee Burke (Orion)
• Bad Luck and Trouble, by Lee Child (Bantam Press)
• Book of the Dead, by Patricia Cornwell (Little, Brown)
• The Grave Tattoo, by Val McDermid (Harper)
• Exit Music, by Ian Rankin (Orion)
You can vote online for your favorite among these five novels. The winner in this and eight other categories will be announced on Sunday, April 13.
