Swierczynski’s Extracurricular Activities

Duane Swierczynski (The Blonde, The Wheelman) lets us know by way of his Secret Dead Blog that Punisher: Force of Nature #1, the comic he’s been working on, goes on sale February 13th, “just in time for Valentine’s Day.”

From the Comic Book Resources Web site:
There’s nothing like chillin’ with your closest buds on a weekend fishing trip, especially when you’re about to launch the biggest criminal deal of your careers. Out here on the high seas, life is sweet. That is, until your engine explodes. And your boat sinks. And there’s no food or water. And the puking starts. And the backstabbing begins. And the only life preserver is in the hands of a man who wears a black shirt with a skull on it!
Meanwhile, Swierczynski answers some questions from Wizard Universe about another comic, Cable #1, due out in March.

“Where the artistic muscle-flexing comes from is in the format,” says the author, “telling a story in 22-page bursts. Novelists can cheat like crazy, doing a 10-page chapter followed by a two-page chapter, whatever. So the form is more demanding. But it’s just as much fun.”

Swierczynski’s dance card has been pretty full lately. Aside from the Cable and Punisher comics, he’ll see the publication of Murder at Wayne Manor: An Interactive Batman Mystery in July. Fans of his novels can heave a sigh of relief, too: he hasn’t entirely given us up for the comics. His fourth novel, Severance Package, will be published by St. Martin’s Minotaur in May. “I’ve been calling it ‘the bloody one’” Swierczynski says on his blog. We can hardly wait!

Say, pipe down, mister! Who axed you anyway, eh?

Sorry, sorry... my Canadian ire is showing. Someone pass me a Labatt's and a Player's Navy Cut. Maybe a block of cheese while you're at it. I'll be fine in the morning.
