Rankin File
In case you were too busy celebrating Mother’s Day and failed to notice, today marked Ian Rankin’s debut as a serial novelist in The New York Times Magazine. That’s where you can find the first chapter of Doors Open, a supposedly “light” thriller (not starring Inspector John Rebus) that revolves around “an audacious art heist.” Chapters of Rankin’s serial will appear in the Times for the next three months. An expanded hardback version of Doors Open is already scheduled for publication by the UK’s Orion in October 2008.
