The Killing Continues

Killer Year, the campaign that banded together more than a dozen first-time thriller, mystery, and suspense writers--all with novels due out in 2007--for the purpose of mutual promotion, has apparently proved so successful, that organizers want to duplicate their efforts next year. Already, the bones of a Killer Year 2008 Web site exist, and debut novelists are being recruited to participate.

That site spells out the benefits enjoyed by the original contingent of Killer Year participants:

Efforts that they used in promotion included the Killer Year blog, Killer Year website, a chap book mailed to several hundred independent booksellers, organizing Killer Year panels at various conferences and bookseller events, and producing a Killer Year anthology which will be published by St. Martin’s in 2008.

For their hard work, they’ve received major press coverage, radio interviews and feature articles as well as the sponsorship of ITW [International Thriller Writers].

Organizers are now accepting applications for Killer Year 2008. The form can be found here. Applications are due by June 15, 2007. Please bring your own Kevlar.
