Go Ahead, Make My Dailies

There’s something irresistible about reading how authors would cast their own creations in movies--not that they ever really get that chance. Just a few days ago, I mentioned that Kris Nelscott (aka Kristine Kathryn Rusch) would like to hire Sidney Poitier to play her 1960s Chicago P.I., Smokey Dalton. Now comes San Francisco novelist Mark Coggins with some notions of who might best portray his jazz bass-playing, Bay Area private eye, August Riordan, in a big-screen version of Candy from Strangers (2006). Hint: His candidate has more than a little experience in a detective’s role, and has spent a lot of time observing San Francisco--if mostly from “The Rock.” Read Coggins’ thoughts on casting at My Book, the Movie.
