Spenser’s Odyssey in “Argosy”

I think some crime novelists do a better job sidelining as bloggers than others. Those I particularly like spend more than a little time writing about other authors’ work, rather than just their own. Therefore, I’ve come to admire Mark Coggins, San Francisco author of the August Riordan series (Candy from Strangers). In the past, he’s noted connections between Raymond Chandler and the late spy novelist and Watergate burglar E. Howard Hunt, and toured us through the apartment where private eye Sam Spade was born. Today, Coggins plumbs the knotty publishing history of Robert B. Parker’s first novel, The Godwulf Manuscript.

As usual, it’s well worth reading.
