The Winter 2006 edition of Spinetingler Magazine is finally available online. And is it my imagination, or are there more interviews in this issue than normal here? Editor and author (Suspicious Circumstances) Sandra Ruttan delivers a trio of talks with Mark Billingham (Buried), Duane Swierczynski (The Blonde), and the lesser-known Jess Lourey (May Day). There are also fiction pieces by J.D. Rhoades (“Behind Every Man”), Susan M. Boyer (“Hogwash”), and Bill Cameron (“A Tall House”), plus introductions to two of Ruttan’s fellow “Killer Year” authors, Sean Chercover (Big City, Bad Blood) and Marcus Sakey (The Blade Itself). If those last aren’t incestuous enough, Ruttan is interviewed in her own mag by fellow “Killer Year” founder J.T. Ellison.
Meanwhile, from across “the pond” comes the latest edition of Andy Cox’s Crimewave--slightly smaller in dimension and redesigned inside, but no less intriguing than its predecessors. Short stories this time around come from Edgar nominee Shelley Costa (“Blue Morpho”), Daniel Bennett (“You Will Be Wearing Green”), and Gary W. Shockley (“The Rainbow Girl”). Sorry, but the contents of this 160-page issue aren’t available online. Order a copy of Crimewave Nine: Transgressions from the TTA Press Web site.

We're incestuous in every issue. I've been trying to do staff profiles, one at a time. It tends to be the hardest thing to get done for some reason.
There will be new author profiles all year long as well, including but not limited to Killer Year authors. I had a bunch of authors, including Brett Battles, Alexandra Sokoloff, Beth Groundwater, JT Ellison and Julia Buckley signed on before Killer Year started. I've been taking suggestions for debut/up-and-coming authors to profile. In 2007 I'll also talk to Al Guthrie and Steve Mosby...
And on the interview front, yeah, you're right about that too. And that will stay steady for probably the next full year. We're already slotting some stuff for winter 2007. Santa needs to bring me a secretary.
Thanks for spreading the word!
