Somehow I missed the Christian Science Monitor’s list of what its critics think were the best mysteries and thrillers of 2006. Here are their choices:
• The Summer Snow, by Rebecca Pawel (Soho Crime)
• The Rainaldi Quartet, by Paul Adam (St. Martin’s Minotaur)
• The Pale Blue Eye, by Louis Bayard (HarperCollins)
• The Mission Song, by John le Carré (Little Brown)
I can’t say that I object to any of those choices, but they are certainly too few in number.
