Crichton’s Revenge

I wrote not long ago how real people run the risk of being mistreated in fiction. And now comes a report in The Huffington Post about author Michael Crichton exacting revenge on a Washington, D.C., political writer, Michael Crowley, who penned a “highly critical” cover piece about Crichton for The New Republic earlier this year. Explains HuffPost contributor Rachel Sklar: “In his new book, Next, [Crichton] introduces a character called ‘Mick Crowley’--a Washington political columnist who rapes a two-year old boy.” Yikes!

Read more about Crichton’s poison pen here.

UPDATE: TNR’s Crowley has a few thoughts to share about Crichton’s “literary hit-and-run.” You can read his online retort here, but that piece’s headline alone indicates the direction in which Crowley is heading: “Jurassic Prick.”
