Read It, You Wimp

With a brief ode to the late Mickey Spillane (“Rest with your piece, Mick”), editor Todd Robinson introduces the newest issue of ThugLit, an online mag championing bare-knuckles, hard-crime fiction that spits on political correctness. The July/August number includes stories by Brian W. Alaspa, Patty Templeton, Vincent, Kovar, and Richard T. Lynch. I love the splash page for this site, which is animated by the terse sound of a fist being drilled firmly into a face. Spillane would be proud.

Meanwhile, the presumably less aggressive bookseller Sally Owen has posted the August issue of her newsletter, Bookaholic, this time featuring mini-reviews of new work by Kate Atkinson, Karin Slaughter, Ken Bruen, Gordon Dahlquist, and others.
