Spy Yarn Exposed as Winner

This news reaches us a bit tardily, but it’s nonetheless worth passing on. The Portland, Oregon-based fan group Friends of Mystery has announced that Robert Dugoni’s The Silent Sisters (Thomas & Mercer) is the recipient of its 2023 Spotted Owl Award. That commendation is meant to highlight the “best mystery written by an author whose primary residence is in the Pacific Northwest.”

Filling out the top-10 list of 2022 releases chosen by the Friends’ awards committee are:

2. Something to Hide, by Elizabeth George (Viking)
3. The Lost Kings, by Tyrell Johnson (Anchor)
4. Cold Snap, by Marc Cameron (Kensington)
5. What She Found, by Robert Dugoni (Thomas & Mercer)
6. Murder at Black Oaks, by Phillip Margolin (Minotaur)
7. Hell and Gone, by Sam Wiebe (Harbour)
8. Tom Clancy’s Red Winter, by Marc Cameron (Putnam)
9. Nothing to Lose, by J.A. Jance (Morrow)
10. Notes on an Execution, by Danya Kukafka (Morrow)

Congratulations to all of this year’s nominees!
