Part of a series honoring the late author and blogger Bill Crider.
Night Has a Thousand Eyes, by “William Irish,” aka Cornell Woolrich (Dell, 1953). New York City-born author Cornell George Hopley Woolrich released his first novel, Cover Charge, in 1926, as by Cornell Woolrich. He later adopted the pseudonyms “William Irish” (under which he published such gems as Strangler’s Serenade) and “George Hopley,” the latter name found—as far as I can tell—only on this book and on 1950’s Fright.

Its star Edward G. Robinson was not fond of this 1948 film version of the book. He did it for the money.
