The Jackson Six

Mystery Fanfare today posted the lists of nominees for half a dozen 2021 Shirley Jackson Awards. These prizes celebrate “outstanding achievement in the literature of psychological suspense, horror, and the dark fantastic.” Below are the contenders for Best Novel.

Hummingbird Salamander, by Jeff VanderMeer (MCD)
My Heart Is a Chainsaw, by Stephen Graham Jones (Saga Press)
No Gods, No Monsters, by Cadwell Turnbull (Blackstone)

This year’s prizes will be handed out in-person on October 29, during a ceremony at the Boston Book Festival. Said event will also include the presentation of a special award to New York author Ellen Datlow in recognition of her editing the anthology When Things Get Dark: Stories inspired by Shirley Jackson (Titan).
